(00)Product / AI

Ask your documents a question, and every answer shows where it came from.

The AI module lets your team ask questions across the archive, inside one document or about a contract, and it finds documents by meaning and suggests where new ones belong. AI only uses documents that the person asking is allowed to open.

(01)Ask the Archive

Ask a question across the archive, and the answer comes back with the documents behind it.

Each answer cites its sources, so you can open them and check the wording before you rely on it.

(02)Where AI helps

The same AI works in six places, and each one answers from a defined set of documents.

  1. 01Ask the Archive

Ask the whole archive, and narrow the scope when you need to.

Answers only come from documents that the person asking is allowed to open, and every answer cites its sources with a relevance score. You can include or exclude folders and documents, and you can keep, rename or delete each conversation or ask in an Incognito conversation.

    • Sources cited as [1], [2], with a “% relevant” score
    • Filter scope by folder or document
    • Saved, renamed or deleted conversations, or Incognito
    • Export an answer to PDF
    • Stop generating at any point

  2. 02Ask the document

Ask one document, and the answer stays inside that document.

The document's AI tab answers from that document only. When you share a document, you can also let the recipient ask AI about it without an account. Each link has its own question allowance, and every question and answer is logged.

    • “Ask this document” on the document’s AI tab
    • Answers from that document only
    • Q&A on share links, off by default
    • A question allowance for each link
    • Questions and answers logged

  3. 03Ask the contract

Ask a contract about its terms, its sources and the project around it.

Ask the contract answers from the contract, its reviewed sources, its findings and the linked project documents that you can read. It belongs to the Contract & Project Intelligence module, so it needs that module and the AI module.

    • Starter prompts for common questions
    • Answers drawn from reviewed sources and findings
    • Linked project documents that you can read
    • Open the thread in the full AI chat
    See Contract Intelligence

  4. 04In your projects

In a project, AI finds the documents that belong together, and a person decides.

Choose example documents or folders and select Find connections, and AI suggests links together with the quotes that support them. Nothing is linked until you review and accept a suggestion.

There is no separate chat for a project, but Ask the contract already draws on the linked project documents that you can read.

    • Find related documents from examples
    • Suggested links with cited quotes
    • Accept or reject each suggestion
    See Project Intelligence

  5. 05Search by meaning

Search by meaning when you do not know the exact words.

Switch the search from Keyword to Smart, and Obscura finds documents by what they mean in Indonesian and English. The embedding model behind it can run inside your network.

  6. 06Suggested folder

Upload many files at once, and each one arrives with its folder already filled in.

In a batch upload, AI suggests a folder for every file and fills in the best match, so nobody has to pick folders file by file. A folder that someone has already chosen stays as it is.

Your team reviews the list and changes any folder that needs it, and nothing is filed until someone selects Create all.

A single upload shows the best folders as tiles with a match score, and administrators can describe each folder's purpose so that the suggestions improve.

    • A folder suggested for every file in a batch
    • The top match filled in, unless someone already chose a folder
    • Any row changed before filing
    • “Create all” files the whole batch
    • “Where should this go?” tiles for a single file
    • A “Folder purpose” set by administrators

(03)Your AI boundary

You decide whether AI runs, where it runs and how much it can use.

  1. AI off

An administrator can switch AI off for the whole deployment, and document management and full-text search keep working.

  2. A model in your network

You can run a self-hosted model with an OpenAI-compatible interface, and choose it under Model provider in the admin console.

  3. An approved provider

You can also connect a provider that your organisation has approved, through the same Model provider setting.

  4. Limits and usage

Administrators set a daily token limit and can review how much AI is used.

  5. AI assistants

People can connect an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude with their own key, and the assistant only sees what that person can see.

AI only uses documents that the person asking is allowed to open.

Module · AI

AI is a separately licensed module. It needs an AI provider and an embedding provider, which can be models inside your network or a provider that you approve.

Try it on a real question

Bring a question that your team asks every week, and we will ask Obscura together.

We use sample documents in the demo, so you can check each answer against its sources before you decide.
